London Trip

As we arrived in London we were throw straight into the world of design. On brick lane there was a store called sandbox that had all of the newest technology in virtual reality. I had a go of fruit ninja and it was like standing into another world, the only thing keeping me from drifting away to the virtual reality was that i could hear my classmates around me. This technology lead me to question it from the speculative design side of things. What will the world be like in 50 years? As of the last 20 years we have went from a mobile phone being an elite work device to today where it is emotionally attached to the user. Will we be living in a virtual reality where we can manipulate the outcome of any situation and most importantly will we be able to distinguish between this reality and the virtual reality we place ourselves in? However, the benefits for this for of entertainment is endless. It could b used as a way to help kids exercise and stay fit while playing there favorite video game. I can be used as a communication device for family members half way across the world. They would be able to see each other and their body gestures.

At the end of our trip Chris and I went on an adventure in the early hours of the morning, we ended up finding a roof area in the hostel that we accessed from the top floor. The view of London was a great send off. We chatted about our trip and shared some design ideas we had been thinking about. While looking out at the skyline of London I couldn't help but notice how architecture from different time periods complement each other so well. Does that just show that good architecture or design in general is timeless and can be appreciated for years to come? Or maybe it just shows that we wouldn't be where we are today if we didn't learn from designers before us.

Within my first hour in the city I came across my favourite bands album artwork outside a music store on brick lane. I had to get a picture of it. To me this artwork is a great way of the xx communicating with their fans and the world around them. Letting them know they appreciate them. The simple reflection as the album artwork takes advantage of negative space which I think works very well and this use of empty space or silence is reflected in their music.

 My Deign philosophy:

Design to me is creating to help others. It's vital to find your form of inspiration through whatever means, for me it is music and simplistic designs. My design is constantly evolving and developing, learning from the world around me.
